BRAZILIAN JIU JITSU

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu (BJJ), roughly translated as “The Gentle Art”, allows you to avoid dangerous situations and gives the ability to escape from potential threats without having to resort to blows.

 

BJJ is a grappling art that promotes the principle that a smaller, weaker person can successfully defend themselves against a bigger, stronger assailant or competitor by using leverage and proper technique. This is done by learning how to properly apply joint locks or choke holds to defeat or subdue an opponent or assailant.

Brazilian Jiu Jitsu can be trained for sport grappling tournaments, mixed martial arts (MMA) competition, self defense, or for physical and mental fitness.

Sparring (or rolling), and drilling, play a major role in training; this provides the student with the repetition needed to master a particular skill. This grappling art is performance based sport, where the ability to properly execute the techniques is very important in order to progress in belt rank and in competition.

Unlike most traditional forms of martial arts using forms and katas, BJJ offers no false sense of security. BJJ is one of the most efficient fighting and self defense systems in the world. It is practiced both without a GI (traditional BJJ attire) at Fightbase MMA.

MUAY THAI

Muay Thai is a standing sport where punches, kicks,Grappling and even knees and elbows can be employed. It is regarded as the most effective stand up Martial Art on Earth.It is termed 'The science of eight limbs'.

 

At Fightbase MMA, we offer two types of Thai Boxing classes. We have Thai Boxing for fighters where you will learn techniques and utilize them in a full contact form of training, and we also have a lesser contact class for those seeking the exercise and self defence benefits of the sport but may have no interest in fighting and want to learn at a safe pace.

Thai Boxing is great! It is a rigorous workout where students are taught controlled punching and kicking movements through repetition. This class works wonders for the soul by allowing you to productively let out feelings of frustration or anger in a controlled, positive, and constructive environment. Thai Boxing will also facilitate improvements in balance, flexibility, coordination and endurance. These physical benefits are quite obvious when taking a look at the physique of a Thai Boxing athlete! This is a great way to get a total body workout while learning one of the best forms of self defence. Thai Boxing is a great form of fitness; according to recent studies, you can burn anywhere from 600 to 900 calories an hour with Thai Boxing !Thai Boxing dates back over 3000 years.

MIXED MARTIAL ARTS

Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is a newer term used to describe the fastest growing sport in the country. MMA is a full contact combat sport that allows a wide variety of fighting techniques and skills, from a mixture of martial arts traditions and non-traditions, to be used in competitions.

 

The rules allow the use of both striking as well as grappling techniques, both while standing and on the ground. Such competitions allow martial artists of different backgrounds to compete. Originally promoted as a competition with the intention of finding the most effective martial arts for real unarmed combat situations, competitors were pitted against one another with minimal rules. Later promoters adopted many additional rules aimed at increasing safety for competitors and to promote mainstream acceptance of the sport.

At Fightbase MMA, the techniques of MMA are taught in a controlled, safe environment. Classes are designed for the beginner through the advanced competitor. MMA, much like each individual martial art, teaches students the values of teamwork, respect, confidence, and accomplishment. MMA allows each individual to excel in their areas of strength as well as improve in areas of difficulty.

In the Bootcamp Training class, the coaches instruct individuals on all aspects of fitness . This includes metabolic conditioning,weight loss,high end cardio,flexability,stamina, correct form and technique.The classes are fun ,relaxed and produce great results!!!
